The actor is not dead, says the Los Angeles Police Department.

People reported that the LAPD responded to reports of gun shots and alleged suicide in the home of Stephen Collins. According to police, none of the reported incidents occurred in the actor's Tarzana residence Tuesday night.

"He's not dead; he's alive," an LAPD rep told People. "He was not at home at the time of the alleged incident, and there's no evidence of any gun shot."

News of the actor allegedly committing suicide surfaced after TMZ released an audio clip of him admitting to child molestation.

"There was one moment of touching where her hand, I put her hand on my penis," Collins is heard saying in the audio clip. According to TMZ, the actor was reportedly talking about his encounter with an 11-year-old girl from New York during a therapy session.

The audio clip was obtained by Faye Grant, Collins' wife, who secretly taped the conversation.

But Grant wasn't the one who leaked the audio clip to the press. Speaking with E! News, she said:

"I woke up today to learn that an extremely private recording I handed over to the authorities in 2012 per their request in connection with a criminal investigation was recently disseminated to the press.

"I had no involvement whatsoever with the release of the tape to the media."

The actor's on-screen wife during the long run of "7th Heaven" said that he didn't exhibit traits of being a child abuser on set. "Stephen is a good guy in my opinion," Mail Online quoted Catherine Hicks.

Good guy or not, the New York Police Department has reportedly started investigations regarding Collins "inappropriate sexual contact with minors" case, said TMZ. The NYPD has identified that there are "at least 3 victims" involved, added the outlet.

E! News added that "a complaint has been filed against Collins and that the Manhattan Special Victims Unit is currently investigating the case."

Collins has not released any official statement as of press time but according to E! News, he has exited the cast of "Ted 2."

UPtv, a family-friendly network airing reruns of "7th Heaven", has also removed the show from their lineup.

"As a top family-friendly network, we are deeply concerned for the families that are potentially affected by these disturbing allegations surrounding actor Stephen Collins.

"7th Heaven has been a beloved family show and a fan-favorite on our network. We have made the decision to remove the series from our schedule effective at 5 PM ET today. We will continue to monitor the situation and listen carefully to our viewers," said UP President and CEO Charley Humbard.
